Anthropic enforces policy: third-party Claude harnesses no longer covered by subscription limits

Policy change details
Anthropic has announced enforcement of a previously shared policy regarding third-party Claude harnesses. The change takes effect on April 4 at 12pm PT / 8pm BST.
The key change: third-party harnesses, including OpenClaw, will no longer draw from your Claude subscription usage limits. To continue using these tools with your Claude account, you'll need to turn on extra usage.
User options
If this change doesn't work for your usage patterns, Anthropic provides two options:
- Cancel your subscription and receive an automatic refund by clicking "Cancel and refund" before April 9
- If you subscribed through Apple, request your refund directly through Apple's refund support
Important technical note: The cancellation link will not work in the Claude mobile app. You must access it from a web browser.
Third-party harnesses like OpenClaw typically provide additional interfaces or automation around Claude's API, allowing developers to integrate Claude into custom workflows or tools. This policy change affects how usage is tracked and billed for these integrations.
